Free Childbirth Seminar

The Birth Center sponsors free childbirth seminars to present factual information and options that every woman who is pregnant or planning a pregnancy should be aware of regardless of where she plans to have her baby. The cesarean and episiotomy rates in this country are very high. Learn why and what preventative measures can be taken. Complete this form or call 610-525-6086 to be notified when the next seminar will be held.

Childbirth Refresher Class
A one-session class for mothers and their partners who have already experienced childbirth but would like a chance to refresh their memory. In this class, we review the process of labor, including recognizing the beginning of labor. An overview of natural pain-coping techniques is explored, as well as the role of nurses and midwives, TBC policies, hospital transfer if necessary, and your postpartum stay. Older children’s adjustment to a new baby and how you are approaching this is discussed. It’s a great way to connect with other Birth Center parents, offer your ideas and possibly get some new ones.

Childbirth Preparation Supplement Class
A one-session class, required for first-time mothers and their partners who have taken childbirth preparation outside of The Birth Center. Covers TBC protocols and policies, the roles of nurses and midwives, hospital care if needed, and postpartum care. Scheduled on an as-needed basis.

Sibling Preparation Class– Ages 2-4
This one-session class is for 2-4 year olds welcoming a new baby. The class is focused on interaction between parent and child, in order to help smooth the way for a good relationship between the new baby and the big brother or sister. The class is set up as a variety of stations supplied with activities, which lead toward discussion of what it’s like being a big brother or sister, what a new baby is like, and what happens when a new baby enters the family. Circle times reinforce these concepts. Information regarding the childbirth process is not included in this class. No birth video is shown. If you want your child to see the birth video, please indicate this on your registration.
